The One Thing to Add to Your To-Do List Today

Job and his friends ask God a laundry list of “Why?” questions.

Why did this happen? Why did God not prevent it? Why does God allow such pain and loss?

Those ancient questions are much different than the ones we ask God today.

Situations. Circumstances. Experiences. Many of them leaving us asking, “Why?”

Yet in the book of Job, God never answers the “Why?” Instead, when God finally breaks the silence in Job 38, He chooses to take Job on the safari of a lifetime.

In this breathtaking speech delivered by the Creator of the Universe, Job is invited by the designer of the cosmos to reflect on the constellations of the night’s sky (Job 38:31-33) and the cumulus clouds of a summer’s day (Job 38:34-38) through different lenses. More than a tour from the zookeeper or botanist, the Creator of All embarks alongside Job on a sacred safari that includes donkeys (Job 39:5), wild ox (Job 39:9), ostriches (Job 39:13), hawks (Job 39:26), eagles (Job 39:27) and much, much more.

After listening to God, Job simply can’t see any creature—whether a lion (Job 38:39-40) or a mountain goat (Job 39:1)—the same way again.

And neither should we.

Creation is never to be worshiped, but creation beckons us to seek God and worship the Creator.

The wonders found in creation should draw us upward in praise, worship, and celebration of God.

Throughout creation, we have countless opportunities to catch glimpses of God’s handiwork and admire different facets of His character that will leave us wonderstruck.

Yet all too often, we find ourselves indoors. Inside. Staring at screens instead of breathtaking scenes.

This summer, I’m challenging you to drink in the wonder of God through the Wonderstruck 7-Session DVD Bible Study. Join our Summer Bible Study beginning on June 6th.
