This Challenge Will Reset Your Whole Week

Over the years, I’ve discovered that even a brief moment in the presence of God can change everything—my perspective, attitude, and reaction. Being aware of and experiencing God’s presence reminds me of my dependence on God. He is the source of everything—joy, provision, protection, love, grace, mercy, hope and so much more.

One of the greatest wonders of God is His presence.

This Challenge Will Reset Your Whole Week

Yet despite the sweetness and delight of God’s presence, I’m amazed at how often I forget to take time to be with God. Though I may spend time in the morning studying the Scripture or praying, I’ll say “Amen” and run off toward projects and deadlines. In the process I hush that still silent voice that beckons me to linger—to sit in the silence and simply be with God.

Yet the invitation remains: Be still and know that I am God.

Take time today to find a quiet place. A comfy couch. A reclining chair. A spot on the kitchen floor (I’m amazed at how God meets me there!)

Drink in silence. Embrace the quiet. Allow your mind and heart to be drawn God-ward. Invite the Holy Spirit to bring a Bible passage to mind. Reflect on the Holy Scriptures and the attributes of God.

Know that you are loved beyond measure by God.

This Challenge Will Reset Your Whole Week

In that place, allow God to lead you to the quiet waters and restore your soul.

And simply:

Be.

Be Still.

Be Still and Know.

Be Still and Know that I.

Be Still and Know that I Am.

Be Still and Know that I Am God.

Amen.

    I needed this today. I wanted to stay curled up in bed but knew that things were happening at work that could not be put on hold for the day. I came in and have been busy since 6 am. After reading this I closed my eyes and shut down my brain (which was in high gear) and just thanked God for who He is and listened. Peace came upon me. Thanks! 🙂

    He gave me strength today to go work out on the treadmill. Then to go walking and now yard work, he gave me this beautiful day. Thank you Lord

    Margaret, most times I begin my day with quiet time- most that is!
    I know those skills you quoted brought me to realize though I think I’m reflecting on, me thoughts get in His way! Over this past year, Almost to the day, everything has changed. It’s like I was empty, God stepped in,
    My attitude, perspective and reaction sorely needed Him!! Reminding me old habits that once caused me pain he posted Don’t keep igniting ,
    That In All my ways acknowledge Him. Recently had a whisper sacred Echo of a praying lady kneeling – Iv just moved into a lovely new apartment, my entire perspective and reaction is new. I’m working on my attitude!!! Each day your posts encouraged me to look beyond myself..

    Thank you. I so needed that. Being still in Gods presence humbles me and reminds me how much I need Him and His Grace…and forgiveness. My sinful attitudes and human focus fall away as I take on His Divine perspectives.

    Margaret, I usually have a morning time with God that may or may not be too quiet…I get ready for work, savor His beauty in my ride, get to work and the day begins…I struggle to stay close, to turn to Him and then I reach a moment where I realize I have failed again … but all hope is not lost…I begin again, anew…I used to set aside one weekend day for Him, but my daughters and my grandchildren have beckoned out of need of late and I pray for them to get steady…steady on their path with God…until then, I meet Him wherever I am. He is always waiting for me! God bless!

    I totally agree with you, Margaret! Even a brief moment in the presence of God can change all things. He is A Father who loves lavishly and all He wants from us is to have moments with Him, walk with Him, talk to Him, not service, effort, or work.
