I get so excited when I have the opportunity to share good news. But, this is even better because it’s great news!
God weaves a story for each one of us but sometimes how it all comes together is breathtaking.
Here’s a little of my story:
In 2007, Pastor Troy Champ perused the narrow selection of Christian books at the Salt Lake City Public Library. He spotted my book, The Organic God, and added it to his stack and started reading it that night.
After reading it and handing it to Suzanne for her to read as well, he leaned over to her and said, “We have to have this woman, this Margaret Feinberg, speak at our church.”
That was eight years ago.
And, since then, Troy and Suzanne have been an important part of my story. I’ve traveled to speak and lead retreats more than a dozen times at Capital Church in Salt Lake City.
Capital Church has become one of our mostest favorist churches. And, over the years, it truly started to feel like home.
Here’s just one of the ways that God has woven what seemed like random threads together.
My husband, Leif, has served me in unbelievable ways over the last 8 years as we’ve worked side by side in ministry. He’s been my cheerleader, my manager, my editor, my scheduler, my “I-can’t-believe-you-just-said-that-on-stage-don’t-ever-do-that-again” wrangler and much more.
But, what most people don’t know is that Leif laid down his career to help carry everything God was stirring in my life.
To be honest, I could never have afforded someone with Leif’s level of experience. But, it was just what I needed.
His organizational skills that he learned in years of high-level management positions have been invaluable in building my ministry.
And, when I walked through cancer, Leif was able to carry day-to-day details that allowed me to rest and recover in the best scenario possible.
But, we’ve always known that Leif’s focus on my writing and speaking was for a season. And, in the most unlikely way, God wove together an opportunity for us both.
I am so excited to tell you that Leif has accepted a position as Director of Organizational Operations at Capital Church.
In this new role, he will be able to use the management gifts that God has given him in an expanded capacity. I am thrilled beyond belief, and he’s, well, giddy. Or at least as giddy as a giant Norwegian gets.
This transition and move allows Leif and I to each use our gifts.
He will serve at the church.
I will continue to write and speak at conferences, events, and retreats around the nation.
Travel will be so easy from Salt Lake City. I’m looking forward to being able to continue speaking and might even be able to accept more dates.
Leif will still be joining me for events like Catalyst Conference, Extraordinary Women, and New England Pastors Retreat among others this fall. Jessica and friends will be helping at other events.
This was a fast move. We arrived in Salt Lake City on Saturday, September 5. Between the job acceptance and our arrival in Salt Lake City, we had 18 days at home–to pack, box, load, drive a Uhaul (don’t worry–they didn’t give me the keys), rent storage, find housing. All seemed like an impossible task. But God has graced us through.
Though I am Tired. Capital T.
We graciously ask for grace for any balls dropped during this time. We also ask for your prayer support during this transition.
Please pray for:
- Strength and stamina as we get unpacked
- Grace and patience for our staff, including Jessica and Bridget, as we transition
- Rich relationships as we settle in a new community
- Favor and wisdom with the church where we’ll attend and serve
I can’t wait to see you this fall and next spring at a ton of great conferences and events and hug your neck in person.

Congratulations Margaret. We can all see God’s Hand on this. Make sure you get ample physical rest and rest in Jesus in order to continue to follow Him. I am praying.
Many blessings,
Janis

I’m so excited for all of you, Margaret! Utah is a secret gem and so filled with opportunities. My dad, the bee keeper ‘extraordinaire’, lives a short jot down the road from you in a neat little town called Monroe. It’s my retreat from Texas’ hot, hot summers. I pray God’s blessings for you on this new, great adventure.
Congratulations! I’m in SLC regularly. Actually, was just there in July. Maybe we will have time to connect when I am there again. Of course, if you are in Nashville, give me a shout!
Wonderful news . I join in your excitement . I am amazed often at how the threads of life draw us into new opportunities . I am happy for you both
Congrats to you both! What an awesome gift the Lord has blessed you two with! Prayers for much Joy, Grace and Wisdom as you embark on your new journey together, side-by-side and hand-in-hand with the Father. Love <3

How exciting!! I am absolutely thrilled for you both. How does Hershey like his new home?
One of my favorite prayers for task-heavy seasons is “economy of motion” – the ability to REMEMBER what needs to be done in any given place while you are THERE!!! 🙂 That will be my prayer for you!!!
What wonderful news for you both! What an exciting new season! God is so faithful.
I’m thrilled at this turn of events and can’t wait to see all that God has in store for you two and Hershey!
God Speed!
How incredible! I have attended Capital for over 10yrs now and have received your blog since reading “Organic God” after Troy introduced it there. My husband and I are lovers of your sermons when you visit and are giddy seeing this great news. We are so excited to welcome you here. Welcome aboard!!! Blessed to have you-
Sonia Lodwick
Congratulations Margaret and Leif! May the Lord continue to bless you oodles and oodles! 🙂
Such awesome news. Congratulations!
Hello Margaret,
Oh you wont live in Morrison anymore ( my Beautiful high school stomping ground!!!) but YES God is good and the opportunity arose for you both… I so appreciated the update. I am praying for God’s Will concerning a job again… I was laid off in Charlotte and now underemployed— for what I wanted… It is interesting — the path has not been clear, but I pray it with all sincerity to become full of clarity and I ALSO pray to lose my will in the process…. Grateful for the opportunity to hear you speak in Greenville one year…. I quite enjoy your writings and recently purchased the verses coloring book – Pretty excited for it to get here… All my best- On the journey with you , Kristin
Congratulations to Leif! This will also make your financial situation more stable, which is something I have been praying about for you. So exciting! I will really have to find a way to attend a conference you will be at so I can see you in person, and maybe share a hug as 2 Sisters in Christ and cancer survivors. I so wished I could have attended one of your writing trainings, but I just could not swing it. bummer. Thanks for sharing the good news with us!
“I love it when a plan comes together.” ~ Hannibal Smith #theAteam
Was smiling the entire time I read this. LOVE how God puts the puzzle together…even before we know He is working on it!
Your story glorifies God’s love, provision, and direction. You can’t plan a story like that; it’s a faith walk. May God continue to open doors and anoint your writing, Margaret. Love reading your posts. Congratulations, Leif.
I’m so happy and excited for you both my friend. When God moves, he moves… and quickly.
Hugs,
Sandra
This is a “God is Good” moment! Praise to the Almighty God and Father for His lavish love! So extremely happy for you and your husband, and Hershey as well:). Maybe you can take a little trip over to Reno in January, Beth Moore is coming here and it would be a kick to see you both!
Congratulations on this new chapter in your lives! Will be exciting how God works in and through you in this new season! (I also smiled when you talked quick move – I moved in 14 days from my job offer to starting my new job and lived in temporary housing for 4 months. Not the most enjoyable time of life but God meets you in those places!)
Congratulations! I’m so excited for you and Leif. May God bless your new area of ministry!!
Congratulations to both of you on your new adventure! I pray for you & so love following where God is leading you.
Praying that next year I can be a part of your writing workshop. Just wasn’t in the plan for this year.
Love & prayers
The Swede and I spent a lot of time in the Salt Lake area when our kids were young. We dragged them up, down, over, and through most of Utah’s national parks and made a lot of good memories there.
Congratulations to you both! A giddy, giant Norwegian–ha!
