My friend, Renee, is one of our Partymob members.
She’s been following Jesus for almost 25-years, but says she’s still growing in her relationship with God in new ways as she learns to develop sensitivity to the different ways the Holy Spirit works.
Earlier this week, Renee sat on her deck overlooking a river reading a sample chapter from Wonderstruck: Awaken to the Nearness of God on the wonder of rest.
As she dove into the chapter, she noticed a ladybug land on her shoulder. She thought, “How sweet!” Then the little creature flew away.
She read a few more pages and the ladybug returned and landed on her chest.
Renee began to giggle,
God, are you trying to grab my attention?
The ladybug flew away.
She returned to reading.
The ladybug returned a third time and landed on her foot.
Renee’s mind flooded with the words of the Psalmist, “Be still and know that I am God!” Then she remembered a scene from a film she’d seen years before, Under the Tuscan Sun.
In the movie, a small girl desperately wants to catch a ladybug. She does everything she can to catch one of these magical creatures but eventually grows frustrated. Exhausted from her striving, falls asleep.When she awakes, she’s covered in ladybugs.
“This was a lesson on striving for me and how for so long my relationship with God was about striving and perfectionism,” Renee says. “I now find my relationship with God is taking on a new level of depth as I learn to slow down and be more quiet.”
Renee’s encounter with a ladybug was one more reminder of God’s presence and yet another invitation to experience the wonder of rest.

Well, God used butterflies in my stomach to remind me to rest in Him today…so yes, God can use ladybugs!
😉 came to post & read about Eileen’s butterflies (but in her stomach). I came to note about butterflies too, but in my garden. I’ve always loved them and some in awe of them…..they flutter around……and I find myself stopping to watch, find myself smiling, …..when they stop to purch on a flower, or anything really, I find myself stopping to observe & watch them. Ha! You should see me at the butterfly farms we have stopped at on our vacations:)

Carly, aren’t there such things are butterfly gardens or forests? Maybe that’s just another name for butterfly farms…but thousands and thousands of butterflies perch and flutter around there!

I’m sad for all the ways I miss daily wonder. Last weekend, I spent time at Laity Lodge in Texas with other editors of TheHighCalling.org. We were standing in the parking lot, looking up at that huge Texas sky, and it was gorgeous — like God had dumped His jewelry box of twinkling diamonds across the sky. We were all wonderstruck. And I was dumbstruck. Here’s why: They were in awe of the starry night, usually hidden because of the light pollution in their more urban communities. Me? I live in rural Iowa. God treats me to such a glorious display almost every night. But I often pay Him no mind. I live under a dome of wonder, and am blind to it.
When I got home from Texas, just after midnight on Sunday night, I looked up at the sky. And behold, the jewels were twinkling. And I stood a good long while that night, out in the cold, just staring up at the sky, staring long and lovely on a gift that I too often ignore.

This morning it was a daddy long legger for me! Never thought that would happen!!! Found him in my kitchen sink. I was going to wash him down the drain (sorry…those 1000 legs just freak me out)…and besides….I typically tolerate them in the basement….he was now encroaching on my space…my territory…my kitchen…how dare he!
I got the sprayer…made him wet…and I just looked at him. All of a sudden compassion came over me for this little creature. He just sat there…wet….almost looking at me with sad eyes (if that is possible for a 1000 legger!) At the same time I’m thinking to myself…am I nuts…that I am looking at this 1000 legger with compassion….I was also looking at this little creature…that God created…and that he can feel pain…. I wound up picking the little guy up (he was soaking wet)…and I carried him down to my basement ….and set him down. He seemed to still be alive…and moving abit. I will see if he is still there tonight.
Perhaps….this is how God looks at us at times…and this is the compassion He has for us. I am sure that at times we don’t look too good to Him….yet He still loves us!
Next week I tackle spiders….Yikes!!!
I like your post. I have encounters with ladybugs, and googled if there is a bible meaning of the lady bug. Your blog captured my attention. The encounters with these ladybugs were in strange places. I was at work, a few times and in my car or someone else’s car. Usually when I’m busy doing something or going somewhere. As I read your blog and the scripture you quoted “Be still and know that I am God” and the words slow down, quiet and rest also have been echoing on my mind for quite a awhile, just amazes me how the Holy Spirit is working in my life. Thank you for for sharing.
Its definitely important to be still. Some people are all over the place and so hasty to make decisions, but haste often makes waste. You can’t enjoy a meal as much if you’re rushing through it, you can’t enjoy time with someone you love if its rushed, etc. Just being still mentally will allow for someone to calm down and collect themselves, and who knows how it may benefit them in Jesus Christ name.
Its very important to have a day of rest, even if its hard, but someone finally giving it a try, may thank God for it later.

My babygirl was born jan.13,2013 which is today except 2016 but anywho literally right after birth I noticed a ladybug on my pillow then later found a ladybug when they discharged me on the wheelchair I was brought down in . also now today I have encountered about 12 they come and fly away…why ? what am I supposed to be seeing. It never fails EVERYWHERE I go they go…whats the deal…am I the ladybug lady..lol..but tell me your opinion since I see that there maybe something more important at hand.
I Loved what you wrote Jennifer@GDWJ ….the Gratitude shone out and inspired me too. I have been marvelling at nature…as Many many Ladybirds(we call them in the UK- as opposed to ladybugs)..have alighted in my window and come in too. My place is a paradise on earth. I have seen a heron fly past and swarms of Dragonflies too. It is Always when I connect to God-that the magic happens. In stillness- I see more. Nature is God’s Entry door to bliss.
So not long ago, we had the first encounter of what I called an “infestation” of ladybugs in our second floor rooms (mostly my bedroom and my toddlers). There were TONS of them!! So naturally, freaked out by the infestation I spent two nights sleeping on the couch and rarely entering my bedroom during the day because that was when they were most active. See, we just bought this house in June and spent years trying to buy our first house, as we were 8 years married in may. I’ve been struggling with some inner turmoil and heart sin when these friendly bugs entered my life. I have known there’s got to be a spiritual battle going on as I just feel it. A friend of mine told me that because of my struggles, she felt like I was going to be getting a blessing soon. She mentioned something about Joshua (although I’m not particularly versed in this area, so I had no idea what she was referring to). Anyway, then I showed my friend the bug infestation and she said, “ladybugs means a harvesting of souls!” Now idk how that lines up with the word but considering all the emotional and mental turmoil I’ve been in, one has to wonder! I actually found this post because I wanted to research if that was a common thing (ladybugs meaning a harvesting of souls). Anyway, maybe someone else has insight?

I came across this post curious about lady bugs and their meaning. In my walk with Christ, God has spoken to me many ways.
I’ve had a lot of stress and turmoil this year and recently realized I was not leaning on my faith as I once did to guide me. I had begun to walk in a path that was not righteous and I needed to repent. While dealing with an inner struggle to be righteous and worthy of Gods love, I was beginning to become depressed and anxious.
Three days ago while at work I began to get visits from lady bugs. I’m a FedEx driver and they would show up on my window and I would try and save them from being blown away. 3 days in a row and I drove 3 different routes. My time on the road allows my mind to wander. So all day at work in between deliveries my inner voice constantly in a struggle of what I am supposed to do. Each time I came across these lady bugs I would feel happy and lucky. They forced me to stop thinking about all of my worries. Even for just a moment it was a welcomed reprieve.
Today while washing dishes I found one in my sink and I almost washed it away but I was able to save it. Knowing this coincidence was God speaking to me I wanted to find out more about ladybugs and what they meant. So I found this article and my mind was brought to ease.
God teaches us not to worry. If we put or faith in him he will always guide us. Like in Matthew 6:26-27 “I tell you not to worry about your life. Don’t worry about having something to eat, drink, or wear. Isn’t life more than food or clothing? Look at the birds in the sky! They don’t plant or harvest. They don’t even store grain in barns. Yet your Father in heaven takes care of them. And in Matthew 6:33-34 But more than anything else, put God’s work first and do what he wants. Then the other things will be yours as well. Don’t worry about tomorrow. It will take care of itself. You have enough to worry about today.”
I had a dream about a ladybug, it was really big.
It kept moving to where it should not have gone, and I kept bringing it back to the place it was originally put.
I picked it up and saw its face, and it cried.
( quite funny really as it was a soft whimpering cry, like a cartoon)

I moved to Texas 5 years ago. I have no clue why I put ladybug in my kitchen but I did. Well I redid my kitchen and I was going to get rid of the ladybugs and I did some, the others seem to go with my new look. Now I keep getting live ladybugs in my bathroom. I have my husband carefully take them outside but then there’s another one. Is God trying to tell me something? I feel He is? Thank you
Oh my, God is good. I laughed and cried for joy after reading this. It was just a confirmation of God’s love for me. I watched under the Tuscan Sun a few days ago. And today I had a ladybug crawling on the back of my neck which reminded me of that scene.
What made me laugh was last night will praying with a friend she said I needed to rest in the Lord…
After praying today I remembered the ladybug and was wondering about symbolism and stumbled on this. So, I think I need to rest in the Lord.

I was given ladybug notelt paper by an Irish lady. In Ireland the ladybug is a symbol of protection.
God’s love is all encompassing; with his eye to detail he sends us little messages and love tokens all the time but sometimes we are too caught up in our battles of life to recognise his messages of love. May we all rest in the comfort of his all seeing and protective love.
When I see a Bluebird I feel at peace. I was taking care of my Aunt at my home during her last days of life and she was sitting in the wheelchair looking out on the deck and she was at the screen door and a Beautiful Bluebird flew down and looked right at her and stayed about ten seconds just looking at her and my Aunt always loved Bluebirds that is why she came to stay with me and we loved each other but when she saw that Beautiful Bluebird she lit up and she said God the Father and Jesus sent her that Bluebird and she saw several Bluebirds before she passed away a week later and she told everyone about the Bluebirds .Ihave many Bluebirds at my house and I believe the Lord sends them to me as a blessing I have always believed that .
I just wanted to share, I love the LORD with all my heart and I have been having a some hard times anyway a lady I know has this really pretty ladybug box and I loved itbecause I collect boxes like that and I have a little lady bug box so the wierd thing is I keep randomly thinking about her box but like more than is normal and I.don’t know why and tonight I found this really cool plastic lady bug thing at my house and so I thought this means something and when I pulled it up all I saw was all this other spiritual stuff that I don’t like and I almost clicked off but I guess Holy Spirit nugged me back cause I found your story so pretty I loved it thank you for sharing. I have been a pastor for just one year and I have been going through a lot this past week. My best friend walked away from…my house has a major water link…memeber of the church are indifferent toward the leadership I am providing…my wife has become discouraged and I was just sitting here im my room on the bed with my wife when a ladybug appeared my knee. Out of nowhere it was just there. I’m not into superstitions but I did wonder the reason….because God is purposeful. I gently pick it up and toss it outside and it can back to me…I toss it again it landed on the bush outside my door. Lord if you sent this wonder creature to inspire hope and promise to me I receive it Lord….for all your creation declares who you are…I look to you Lord Jesus my Savior to bless me with everything I need to bless you.
Thank you for sharing this. In the last few weeks a strange occurance with ladybugs has been happening. It started with one lady bug landing on a spot in front of me in my living room. I let this one out, then the next night another lady bug was in exact same spot again. This has been happening now day after day, always in the same spot. No other lady bugs in the house, no other places, rain or shine, every day. So i started thinking God is trying to tell me something as He often is, lol. Thats when the first result upon looking for spiritual reasons led to your story. You have no idea how much that message of be still and know that i am God was needed. My daughter is mentally ill, autistic, and was led away from home by a real predator drug dealer and heroin addict. He also got her pregnant and she cant take care of her self let alone a baby. She shuts me out and wont allow services in. So as you might guess, my days are filled with sobbing prayers and worry for what will happen to her. I prayed again this morning for her and again the ladybug was there. The answer from God: be still and know that i am God.

Hi! I do not feel nine is a negative number. God has shown me this number MANY times, most of those times were positive. There are 9 fruits of the Spirit. Nine can also symbolize the completion or end of a matter. I really like the number 9!

I know that there hasn’t been any responses on this site regarding ladybugs for some years, but I am hoping you will find this message. I am a full time carer for my 88 year old mum. She has recently been diagnosed with terminal cancer and she also has advanced vascular dementia and is wheelchair bound with arthritis. I had a very bad nights sleep last night (it happens often because of mum’s night time needs in the main), so I am feeling exhausted today. Then I found a ladybug on the door frame in the house, but when I tried to encourage it to step onto my hand it flew off to the window. So I opened the window and it flew out. I had asked God to make every hours sleep I managed to seem like 2 and feel in some way the ladybug was a message to me from God..what do you discern? Every blessing in Jesus’ name Mags

Meaning God is blessing with a new start, or a completion/end & is sending loveliness (peace, joy etc.) into a time (new season) or situation. A group of ladybugs is called a loveliness of ladybugs. A year or more ago I was really going through some stuff both physical & spiritual. I talked with my mother regarding all. God spoke to her via a dream. In the dream my mother put garden shoes on my feet and the garden shoes were covered in ladybugs! When The Lord revealed the meaning of the full dream, I was so blessed! During this time a prophet of God also told me that the Lord message to me was to stay in His garden (keep up & stay in close relationship with Him). I did not know her nor her me. I had a dream lastnight that me and my husband were in a hotel room and in the room were red ladybugs 🐞 everywhere some small some big and even flying and they were on the curtains and all over us as well…I don’t like bugs at all so I was afraid and my husband was freaking out but when I woke up I was trying to see what this dream meant spiritually
God has a track record of making His presence known through ladybugs several times in my life. It is sooo sweet! For me, they spoke protection and an “I’m with you” message. Each time, I was going through something and truly needed it. During one season, it wasnt spring nor summer and I used to drive 30 minutes to and from work. During a difficult time, a ladybug would be on my windshield on my way back home. Through the whole 30 minutes on the highway with all that wind, the ladybug was still there. Once I would back into my parking spot at home, it would then fly away. This happened several times during that season.
I am actually on a family trip in arkansas and it is amazing…There are butterflies and dragonflies ever where I look and I know he is expressing the magnitude of change that is going on in me..Then last night it was a shooting star and today it was a ladybug

I have learned that all numbers (and things) have both a negative and a positive meaning. It is up to the person with the experience/dream to determine if it was a good or bad symbol, depending on how the encounter/dream made them feel, or what was going on. I have learned that 9 can mean judgment — and it can also mean harvest. Hope this helps!
I feel the same! He spoke to me at the beginning of the lockdown when a hummingbird flitted in front of me, looked me in eye before zipping away! I discovered the Lord was telling me I was too busy 🙁 A week later, a prophet posted a word that said, “The Lord says many of My people are too busy.” Last month a butterfly came into my apartment! Via my homemade cat door! At night! (I noticed the clock said 11:11 — which is another way He’s been speaking; it means transition and revival). The butterfly started crawling on a painting before disappearing for good. It dawned on me — the painting had large butterflies on it! I know He is saying much change is coming. I, too, love the ways He talks to me and how funny He can be!

My mother endured suffering and pain health related before her passing. When she passed and when she was carried outside she was immediately covered by 100s to thousands of lady bugs! They were also all over my dad and brothers back and shoulders, and right before she was put in the ambulance, they all shot up in the sky at the same time. It was a very super natural experience. I believe it was God reassuring us that moms ok now. It was just wow!
I’ve been working so hard in my song writing and now this ladybug God sent has been on me for nearly 10mins. Now I see this, a sign that I should take a rest. AMEN

This really spoke into my heart. Thank you. Tonight I awoke to a pretty orange lady bug crawling over a comforter folded on my bed. I got up immediately to turn on the light so I could see her better. I picked her up, watched her for a bit, and then freed her outside. Lol. Your message spoke to my because I have been striving and feeling secretly upset that I couldn’t find help with the overwhelm. Like your story, when I became still and quiet, she appeared. I believe that this was an answered prayer in that I have been asking God for help. Only when I became still, a little lady bug came and reminded me to wait for the Lord and take a breath to enjoy what He has created.

I’m sitting on my patio and a ladybug 🐞 lit on my leg, I brushed it off (thinking nothing about it), however the same ladybug came back and was crawling on my arm. I brushed it off again, it came back and now is in the chair beside me and has not gone away. Sitting beside me and has not moved! I accept God’s blessing and protection, a new beginning, loving me forever.
