A never-told secret about my prayer life…
I have a little secret about my prayer life that I’ve never shared before.
Namely, I love to be playful with God.
I suspect He hears a lot of prayers that sound the same.

I was recently diagnosed with ADD and ADHD, to which my friends say, “That explains a lot!”
I’m constantly misplacing my keys, losing my sunglasses atop my head, and can’t find my phone because it’s in my back pocket.
All of this creates silliness and laughs, and it’s hard to take oneself too seriously.
There’s a story told of a grandfather who was walking through his yard when he heard his granddaughter repeating the alphabet in a tone of voice that sounded like a prayer. He gently approached his granddaughter and asked, “Whatcha doing?”
The little girl looked up and innocently said, “I’m praying, but I can’t think of exactly the right words, so I’m just saying all the letters, and God will put them together for me, because He knows what I’m thinking.”
One of the great joys of speaking at events is getting to see all the stunning, beautiful, creative event ideas. The best part: YOU can use them at your gatherings of friends, book clubs, Bible studies, and retreats, too.
When I saw this at an event recently, I thought… “That’s BRILLIANT!” Do you recognize what it is?
Hey friends!
I’ve been teaching the Bible for more than 25 years, and if there’s one book that has taught me that what I do matters, it’s the book of James. I suspect you’ve felt that way, too.
James calls us to examine the gaps between what we believe and how we’re living. A call to action, the letter of James is clear: what you do matters!
