The Wonder of Petoskey Stones
My friend, Rebecca, from Michigan recently introduced me to Petoskey stones:

a combination of rock and fossil (fossilized coral) that formed through glaciation.

She explains that sheets of ice plucked stones from the bedrock, ground off the jagged edges, and left them in the lower peninsula of Michigan. If you’ve ever, been to Michigan or met someone from Michigan, than they give you the hand. But I digress.

Anyway, the Petoskey stones look like a basic stone until they become wet. That’s when the six-sided coral markings appear.

The stones are reflective of baptism–the spiritual transformation that happens when we, too, are dipped or dunked in water. The stones also remind me of our true selves which will be revealed when we stand before God redeemed. They also reveal the hidden beauty God has placed in each of us.

I love discovering the wonders of God in nature. Have you stumbled on anything interesting like this lately?
