This is the day we set apart to rekindle gratitude.
This is the day we search high and low for pockets of grace, insignias of God’s goodness.
This is the day we remember the power of offering thanks for giving by giving thanks.
Somewhere along the way, we rediscover that this day is meant to be everyday.
My friend, Nancy Sleeth, recently challenged me to practice Thanksgiving each day.
A simple recipe for joy:
Remember three miracles you’ve experienced in the last 24 hours and give thanks.
Don’t mistake the simplicity of the act for its potency.
Miracles are taking place all around you. Open your eyes. Perk up your ears. Breathe in the goodness of God.

The rosy sunrise.
The squeeze of a toddler’s hand.
The comforting voice of a friend.
The breath of God on a familiar Scripture.
The answered prayer.
The delicate descent of a snowflake.
The smoosh and crunch of bread.
The upcoming wedding.
The droplet of rain.
The words that became balm to your soul.
The inner healing you never expected to receive.
The magenta sunset.
The Holy One is in your midst. Take time to remember three miracles within the last 24 hours. And give thanks. Not just today, but every day.
Together, may we be a people who learn to fight back with joy. To learn more, click here.
