After many years of writing in her prayer journal, missionary Sarah Young decided to listen to God with pen in hand, writing down whatever she believed He was saying to her. Well in my recent dream just Friday night, I was looking for shoes which means I was barefooted which interprets accordingly to my dream book that when one is barefooted, it can represent not being prepared for a situation. Well, I suppose He is trying to tell me that since I am looking for shoes that I am just getting prepared because the what the dream book saids is that when you wear your “gospel shoes” your feet are “shod” with the preparation of the gospel” (Eph 6:15) so I have been knowing that I have a calling on my life and I am enrolled in biblical college and also taking Billy Grahams Evangelism Training Courses online in between my other studies. All this means I am being prepared for that calling and I’m getting ready to wear those shoes.
That we are allowing all the trials that we are facing to be a distraction from what we know God has called us to! Satan is a loser and he will not distract us from our purpose and destiny! Yay God!!

In the last 8 months I have been dealing with a diagnosis of breast cancer. Following surgery, 2 different friends sent me a copy of Sarah Young’s devotional. It has been an amazing/outstanding help to me, often using the same words in the daily thought that I had used in crying out to the Lord earlier in the same day. Recently the pastoral care department at the hospital where my husband is the chaplain gave all the volunteer chaplains a copy of the book. We are already hearing of the results of the Lord speaking through this book. So if you don’t win a copy, it’s worth buying one. God bless!

God has been showing me lately that I can look to Jesus mother Mary as a Biblical example of what a good mother should be, as I did not have a mother that could show me what a good mother was supposed to be. God’s been saying to get to know Mary in the Bible as a friend, and see what I can learn from her. He has also been showing me to trust Him with the small things and He will prove Himself faithful to me, so that I can trust Him with more and bigger things.

This book is my all time favorite devotional. You never need another one! It is also my favorite gift to give those who are experiencing trials. Ms. Young’s ability to bring us such an individual “perfect for the moment” message directly from God is exceptional.
I rejoice that the Father has spoken through her and she has shared the message with us!

Life is going to be tough when we take things in our hands instead of depending on God. God is teaching that if only I completely depend on Him and be still… everything is going to be in control combined with great blessings.
God’s been telling me to slow down and listen. Which is pretty much what God usually tells me. (Now if I could only learn to do it…)

I’ve gotten so busy with family stuff, work stuff, and even church stuff. There is an ever-present whisper….”Less distraction….focus. Stop spending so much of you (time, money, energy, etc.) on things that don’t last. Be still.”
God has been speaking to me to make time for myself ……..and I do make a big effort to go to Bible Study once a week…no matter what…..I am a better person because I made the effort and time…because I am worth it.
God has been teaching me that He loves me even when I am messy. As I serve others I do not need to pretend as if my life is always going smoothly. I can instead live raw in my mess knowing that God loves me despite it all and He is working everything out for so much good. This is a beautiful journey to be on with God.
God has been calling me to take challenges and live a radical life for Him! He is constantly reassuring me that, He has tomorrow figured out and I just need to trust in Him!

Jesus has been calling me to come closer to him. To be still and listen to his words. I know God has a amazing plan for me now it is my job to listen to the beauty of his voice whispering in my ear.
The thing That Jesus has been telling me is that I am never alone. He will never leave me or forsake me. He has always been with me. He is with me when i wake and when i sleep. The Lord is a gentleman and he has been so gracious with me in our walk together. He is really just teaching me to walk with him daily.
God wants the very best for our lives. There is nothing too hard for God. He is the great and Mighty God who loves us.
Satan tries to set up a snare or trap to keep us from God. Satan is also trying to make us into a stumbling block for others to see. We need to guard our thoughts, our hearts and our souls. We need to ask God to be our Counselor and spend time with Him. He will protect us from all harm.
A snare is a trapping devised used for capturing someone or something unaware_deceptively attrative, delusing, pursuit as to capture, to provoke someone to do something through false or exaggerated promise or persuasion.
A trap is a scheme for catching, holding or concealing, to spring shut suddenly by catching or tricking an unwary person, entanglement, web, to prevent from escapting or getting free.
A stumblingblock is an impediment or obstacle, barrier, hinderance, spiritual downfall, lead astray often into sin or destruction.
These are three ways Satan tries to attack you and me, even our families. God is the only one who can set us free from bondage and the attacks Satan puts into our lives. He will lead and guide each one of us if we let Him. He will lift you up from the mirey clay. He will take you out of the wilderness. He will set you free from captivity. He will establish your steps and lead your coming and going. His words are precise and sketched as stone, to be written upon each heart. He will be your stronghold that keeps you from sin. Listen to His voice, His hands are stretched out to you, and He is faithful to delivery you out of the wasted highways of life. Joy will overwhelm you. For He is a God that transforms our lives, comforts the hurting, feels our every heartache and takes away our fears. He is our God!
I’ve been asked to go deeper and become vulnerable, to stop and to listen and to get out of comfort zone.
He is telling me I am enough 🙂

I have been through and continue to go through many trials in my life and I know without a doubt that God is holding me up and helping me stand. His grace, guidance, the hope I have, the precious people He’s put in my life, my church, my family and many more everyday paths I cross are all here because of Him. I know I am only a tiny part of what He wants me to be and pray that one day I’ll be strong enough to be the child of God He meant me to be all along.
I’ve read many devotionals over the years, but “Jesus Calling” is very unique.
Sarah’s reflections of what Jesus is telling her for each day… It’s written in 1st person like Jesus is speaking to the reader. It has amazed me how many days His words have been so relevant to my particular situation.

Melinda, I was going to write the very same thing! Yeah, it’s easier to tell someone else to trust God, and you can believe it for them, but when it comes to having to trust him for your own needs that’s when the rubber meets the road. HE IS FAITHFUL ALL THE TIME! It’s just that the “time” may not be on OUR time or in OUR way. But he is faithful! What he began he will complete if we let him.
He is telling me not to forget my first love…HIM!! He is sufficient for me.
To hand it all over to Him and then trust rather than trying to take back control.

Stay true and confident in God’s word. Sin is sin but you can’t live in sin and have a relationship with Jesus.
I have heard so many good things about the Jesus Calling book, so it was fun to see it pop up on the blog.
I have been trying to learn more to hear Jesus, and I have found that so often He uses the Bible to speak to me, making passages come alive in unique ways. Lately I have been seeking guidance for a specifically difficult relationship, and I’ve found that the more I spend time with God in Bible Reading, Prayer & Conscious Contact, the easier it is to discern His voice–I believe that lately He has been telling me to look to Him for answers and not lean on my own understanding!
His voice can so easily get drowned out by all of the commotion in the world.
This is a long reply, but I hope that everyone will get a chance to read this book and to continue growing in relationship with Jesus.

Jesus is telling me to just “hold the line” where my unsaved friends are concerned. He assures me that He loves them more than I do, and that He wants them to find a right relationship with Him.

Jesus has been teaching me the importance of pruning and refining. As in John 15. He has told me, through many occasions, that my calling on earth is to spread joy, like a wildfire. He is teaching me to live in that promise and to live in my title as his daughter. 🙂

This year, God has repeatedly been asking me to “Fear less, and trust more.” I have been asked to step so far out of my comfort zone that an almost instant response to a moment of fear I start quoting 2 Timothy 1:7, “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” Until I can move forward. God rocks!
Jesus has been saying to me that I need to get closer to Him, to always trust Him because He loves me and He wants the best for me and my family!!!

That I am deeply and wildly loved and that he continues to draw me deeper and deeper into that relationship with him.

Jesus has been speaking to me about not just trusting Him in my heart but also embodying signs of that trust, throughout my struggles in life and challenges, like patience and peace and even joy, strength and self discipline.
