Jenny Simmons (of the band, Addison Road) is among those who have graduated from boot camp.
I’d been rooting for this sought-after musician and speaker like crazy, and am thrilled to now hold her new book, The Road to Becoming: Rediscovering Your Life in the Not-How-I-Planned-It Moments.

Would LOVE to go to writer’s bootcamp when finances allow. Would also like to read this
book. Jesus just delivered me from hiding behind invisible walls most of my life; partly out
of fear of rejection, but also I think in the attempt to “control” my world ( because it was so
broken since childhood). Though He has delivered me out of that prison, I am having to
learn how to walk in this new freedom. I wonder if some of my controlling is really a resistance
to change. Perhaps one is the brick and the other the mortar. Maybe this book would help.

I NEED this book! I started off on a new journey a few years ago that I thought was a new door, God-sanctioned, filled-with-signs-from-heaven, wonderful adventure! In most ways it really was, but in a few very important ways, I really failed, and had to change direction. Now I’m stuck, and there’s really no turning back, and I don’t understand how I misread everything, and how I failed, and how I’m going to have the strength and sanity to go on…

I have been writing poetry since I was seven years old. I feel God calling me to write, whether it be poetry or a book,/ I do not know as of yet. Margaret…I love my life despite the fact that it is most definitely a Not-how-i-planned it life. What could be better? A title like that invites curiosity- how does God surprise us in the events we wouldn’t have chosen? I’m sure He does it all the time; it’s just hard to recognize when you don’t know what you’re seeing!
