Leif and I are guilty of watching far too much Food Network. We love us some Drive-ins, Diners, and Dives. We ogle over the offerings of The Best Thing I Ever Ate. We subscribe to Cook’s Illustrated. We’ve been known to drive an hour to eat a watermelon basil popsicle. We take our food with one helping of seriousness and two helpings of fun.
Looking for somewhere delicious to eat in the Denver-Metro area? Check out these Foodie Finds: [Tweet this]
1. In the mood for breakfast or brunch? Head on over to my favorite breakfast place in all of Denver: Snooze, an A.M. Eatery. With several locations, this is a local’s favorite serving up breakfast and lunch. I’m a fan of their huevos rancheros and Juan’s breakfast tacos. A must-visit when in Colorado, but plan on a 20-minute wait to get in.
2. Looking for a great cup of coffee? Stop in at Paris on the Platte or Stella’s Coffeehaus to get your caffeine fix. I’ve been going to Paris on the Platte since I was in high school… all these years later, both are still faves among locals.
3. Craving a great burger? Crave Real Burgers is one of our all-time favorite burger joints and they serve up killer sweet potato fries. If you like them piping hot like I do, ask them to bring them before your burger. Holy yum. Leif has earned the official Crave Burger t-shirt from eating there so many times. He’s tried almost everything on the menu including “The Luther”, a burger topped with a fried egg and two glazed donuts instead of buns. Yum-a-wowza!
4. When you want to be spoiled on a fancy evening out, check out The Edge inside the Four Seasons. The kobe beef served on hot stone appetizer is dreamy. Their steaks and bison are melt-in-your mouth delicious. But the golden rule is save room for dessert. I dream of their peanut butter crunch.
5. Whether for lunch or dinner, I’ve been a long-time fan of Rioja. They specialize in local and seasonal products to create one-of-a-kind melt in your mouth fantastic. The chef can accommodate all kinds of food allergies and still manage to make your meal unforgettable.
6. Root Down serves up a rich variety of organic and natural food. They have everything from Tomato & Cantaloupe Gazpacho to Colorado Lamb Sliders. They’ve recently opened a location in Denver International Airport—stop by during your next layover.
7. Stop by Linger for the food, but stay for the views, views, views. This rooftop eatery provides unbeatable views of downtown Denver.
8. Have a sweet tooth? Head over to Little Man Ice Cream for delicious ice cream and gelato! The salted caramel is delicious. The building is shaped like a giant milk jug—you can’t miss it!
9. When we first moved to Denver, we lived in a neighborhood where we occasionally heard a gun shot out our window. We felt safe. But no one who came to visit us ever did. Go figure. Anyway, we found a little Mexican chain that we adore called Junior’s Tacos. They’re located throughout the US—and have several locations in Denver. All food is made fresh to order, the burritos are enormous and Leif can’t leave without ordering one of their fresh fruit juices.
