Our church hosted a barbeque to kick off the summer. Crisp kale salad, creamy cole slaw, hot-off-the-grill burgers, Leif’s slow-cooked bacon baked beans, and a dessert spread you’d write home about. We’re still new to this community, so I relished this gathering as a chance to connect with new friends. We chit-chatted, played corn hole, and filled our bellies and hearts—not just with lick-your-lips, yummo food—but with the gifts of God found in friendship, the local church, and community.
No matter who you are or where you’ve been—if you’ve lived a life where you’ve seen it all, done it all, or feel like you’re past it all—God still longs to take your breath away.
It’s time for us to recapture the wonder of God in our lives.
Because when we rediscover the magnitude and marvel of God, we can’t help but…
- share the Good News with others
- bow in worship
- pray boldly
- become more passionate seekers of God
- live with greater joy and delight
The truth is that laying hold of the wonder of God will ruin you in the most breathtaking ways.
The Wonderstruck Online Summer Bible Study (which begins today!) is a personal invitation for you to toss back the covers, climb out of bed, and drink in the fullness of life. Over the next 7 weeks, you’re invited to:
- Recognize the presence of God in the midst of your routine
- Unearth extraordinary moments on ordinary days
- Develop a renewed passion for God
- Identify what’s holding you back in prayer
- Discover peace in knowing you’re wildly loved
Wonderstruck is more than a Bible study, it’s a way of living awake and aware to the wonders of God all around. It’s a posture of being on high-alert to the movement and presence of God in our daily life. Instead of turning our eyes inward and downward, we shift upward and outward expectant for what God is going to delight us with today.
You see, living wonderstruck is the one spiritual discipline you can’t live without.
Because God is busting at the seams to display his wonder in your life today.
The wonder of God are those moments of spiritual awakening that make you long to know God more.
And these moments?
They’re waiting in your friendships and family, at your workplace and church, in your extraordinary moments and in the mundane, in your joys and among your tears. Wonder is found in the delicacy of a falling leaf, the laughter of a child, and a bite of summer’s first juicy watermelon.
We’re inviting you to share where you are experiencing and seeing the wonder of God this summer with others through the online Summer Bible Study. Take a picture. Post on Instagram. Write a blog post. Share on your Facebook. Create a Pinterest board. Tweet. Use the hashtag #LIVEWONDERSTRUCK so we can see and savor the wonder of God together.

Is this study closed captioned?
Unfortunately, no. It’s not. 🙁
Most often for me, when I think of living wonderstruck it involves some part of nature, Creation: Sitting on a white sand beach with the waves crashing and breeze blowing or marveling at the majesty of mighty mountains with tiny chipmunks scurrying, sunsets with colors beyond name, nights lit up by infinite stars, a bird nestling against her eggs….
I am my biggest wonder robber because I allow too much busyness. I allow my infinite “to do” list stop me from stopping. I am so looking forward to this study!!
Singing brings the greatest joy and energizes even the most exhausted me, my grand children’s laughter, watching a spider spin it’s web–whether you like spiders or not you have to admit they are amazing creatures, working well, knowing you are working for God’s glory and His pleasure and not simply to “do your job”, giving someone else the joy of laughter–that also brings me joy– and shoveling snow with angelic help–oh, my goodness–that is quite a fun experience!
I agree with Elizabeth (above) that busyness is a great joy robber. I also find that not practicing God’s presence also robs me of finding joy in going about daily activities knowing His nearness and doing them for His pleasure.
Goodness- that to-do list gets me, too. Always vying for my attention. Never enough time in the day.
Probably that and all the technology at my fingertips. Instead of allowing myself to really sit and allow my mind to sit in wonder about God’s great world, I can instantly google whatever question I have.
Excited you’re joining us, Elizabeth.
Shoveling snow with angelic help? I must know more!
Yes- how often when our schedules get jam-packed to we skimp on our time in the Word or in prayer? I’m with you there. Such a great reminder that practicing those disciplines really do lead to more wonderstruck moments. Thanks, Melissa!
I love the toilet paper story! I pray for a willing spirit to be ridiculously obedient to our great God!
Wonderstruck, to me, means being in awe of God and His blessings. Health issues are the biggest robber in my life.
Wonderstruck…….I had a bad week mentally last week. Told my best friend that I felt suicidal. (hadn’t had a suicidal thought for years) Felt overwhelmed about work and family issues and just wanted to crawl into a hole and forget everything. Turned on the radio yesterday and heard a sermon from James McDonald. He said “if you are having these kind of thoughts, they are not from God.” Then he quoted this scripture “But God has not given us a Spirit of fear; but of power and of love, and of a sound mind.” I sat in my car and thought wow, God is kicking me in my posterior! I was truly wonderstruck!
Hehe 🙂
Oh yes- I didn’t even think about health issues, but you are so right. They take over everything– including your ability to live wonderstruck. You are not alone in that, Melissa.
So grateful for those kicks in the rear. Thanks for sharing, Pat. May God continue to nudge you with his joy, peace, and goodness.
What’s up, after reading this awesome paragraph i am also delighted to share my know-how here
with colleagues.
