21 Days of Wonder REST

Apart from rest, we can sleep through the wonders of God. Though your schedule may be full, consider what you can do today to imbibe rest as one of Godā€™s greatest gifts. Perhaps you can sneak in a catnap. Or allow your eyes to rest during the midafternoon. Or climb into bed an hour early. Look for a few minutes when you can just restā€”allowing your mind and body and emotions to recalibrate. Drink in rest to awaken more fully to the wonders of God all around.     Early in the morning singing with The Lord and getting a beautiful piece of scripture ,God loves us gives me rest.

    This morning I was drawn to Isaiah 30:2 in my devotional time…it is such a good reminder and goes along with today’s challenge perfectly.
    This is what the Sovereigh Lord, the Holy One of Israel, says: In repentance and REST is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength…he goes on to say the Israelites would have none of it…and what would happen because of it…but then reminds them how He longs to be gracious and show compassion if they will just stop being so hard headed.
    Boy am I an Israelite sometimes!! I’ll be RESTING in His Presence today.

    Sometimes in the middle of a day when all sides seems to be pressing in….I will just go in my room and lay down…getting under a blanket feel I am snuggling up with Abba…all the noise of the world fades and His love brings me to rest and abiding in Him.

    This seems to be a recurring theme that the Father keeps reminding me to do…a “sacred echo” in my life. Thanks for the reminder.

    I loved this, because just recently I laid down for bed, reminded that rest is a reinforcement of our need for God. We are vulnerable, dependent creatures who must rest in order to even function properly. Rest helps me gain perspective on my position and keeps me dependent on my Creator.
