21 Days of Wonder GOD

Wondrous delight is found in the presence of God. [Tweet this] With a blank sheet of paper and pen in hand, along with a Bible nearby, begin making a list of the characteristics of God. Write down various names for God. Record attributes of God. List promises of God. Then spend some time thanking God simply for who he is and offering words of adoration to him. The wonder of God’s presence awaits you.

Wonder Challenge: What’s the attribute of God or promise that you appreciate most? Give a shout out to God online—through Pinterest, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram or your blog—about the facet of God’s character or a promise that is stirring your heart.

Examples of God’s attributes:  Holy, Righteous, Eternal, Truth, etc.

Example of post: God, thank you for being ________!

This year, for Lent, we’re going to be inviting people to read the entire Bible in 40 days. Yep. It will average about 30 chapters a day–about an hour to read varying on how fast/slow you read–six days a week with one day off throughout Lent. I’m encouraging people to consider using the Message Bible for a fresh look and fresh language of the Scripture. You’re welcome to join in. An official announcement and details will be coming after the 21 Days of Wonder. But how better to spend Lent than laying hold of Scripture and diving into the character of God! It will kick off February 13. Stay tuned for more details.

  5. Hi Margaret,

That may be a little forward of me to call you by your first name, never having met, however I feel like I know you and your heart through your writing.

Thank you for the prompt today about God. It actually allowed me to revisit a book that was given to me (and my hubby) by the pastor of a church we were attending while expats living in London. I read the book and was moved. The pastor stepped down from the church because of (per rumor and wife/kids leaving) an extramarital affair. As a result, I quickly stashed away any of his sermon notes to the nether regions of our filing cabinet and shoved away the book to the very depths of our bookshelves.

Not too long after this, I was reminded that God is “bighearted”. If “he was His” and “I was His” and I was called to love “His”, then I should forgive “him”. I did. Besides, disregarding any of my pastor’s words was like me saying I needed to disregard any advice or wisdom from David or Paul or any other person on earth.

The book, of course, was Organic God. The pastor gave it to us with the quote, “never stop loving the one who loves you most”. I have not.

The pastor followed up with me about the book with your question, “What do you love most about Jesus?”. Although today I would say …

Thank you God for being “bighearted”.

My initial reaction after reading the book was …

“For me, first and foremost, I love His infinite wisdom – sometimes it leaves me baffled, sometimes amazed, but mostly it leaves me speechless. Secondly, I love His beauty.”

(not to be self-serving, the rest of my initial response to that question can be found here: http://bit.ly/U3c5ov)

I look forward to Wonderstruck, which should arrive at my doorstep tomorrow.

And, again, Thank you God for being bighearted.

    Thx,
    Nicole
