Today is officially the first day of spring. (Insert Woop! Woop! Sound) After a snowy winter, I welcome this new season with open arms. I think I have a billion or so reasons I love spring, but here are four that come to mind:
1. Play. Play. Play. The longer sunny days mean I have more time to play outside-and it’s no secret I’m an outdoorsy gal! Something about being out in nature sparks my imagination and spirit. Hiking gives me time to think and pray. The beauty of nature reminds me of the beautiful nature of God. A day well spent often includes pulling on my hiking shoes and enjoying the lingering sunshine before dinner.
2. Fresh Fruits & Veggies. I so enjoy loading the shopping cart with fresh fruit and vegetables that mark the beginning of a new growing season. With strawberry season right around the corner, I’m already dreaming of all the fresh fruit smoothies I’ll be making. Yummo!
3. Sweet Spring Air. Spring rolls in a crisp freshness in the air, leaving me feeling more animated after I’ve taken a few deep breaths. I also love the soft green hue covering the hills and enveloping the trees that only seems to appear during this season. The fresh air and new life remind me of the new life Christ calls us to live.
4. Connecting With Others: Communities seem to thrive again as the weather becomes more warm. People are out and about-moms walking and talking while pushing heavy strollers, friends biking together on dirt paths, and students playing a pick-up game of Frisbee in the park.
What do YOU love most about spring?
