Friends,
What do you do when you wake up and just can’t?
Ever had one of those days, weeks, months?
Those moments when you’re beyond capacity–in your body, in your mind, in your resilience, in your energy… when it all seems like it’s too much?
I’m coming out a season where a bout with my body made the tiniest acts seem impossible, overwhelming, un-doable.
The diminishment stirred me to return to the tactics I learned and write about in Fight Back With Joy: Celebrate More. Regret Less. Stare Down Your Greatest Fear.
Remember: More than whimsy, joy is the weapon we use to fight life’s battles.
Joy is something we can give away even when we don’t have it.
So I focused my energy on kind acts toward others. I purchased flowers and made little bouquets. I sent encouraging emails and texts. I gave what I didn’t have, and God in His faithfulness, multiplied the joy, and splashed it in my soul.
I share this because I sense some of you have woken up recently and thought, I just can’t.
I get you. I see you. I know that place all too well.
Yet I challenge you today to spread a pinch of love of away anyway.
Even if it’s just a kind word. A greeting card. A little artwork. A homemade scone to a neighbor (you go, friend, if you’re a baker!)
And ask God to multiply what do you don’t have.
Because even when you can’t, God still can.
I love you, friends,
Margaret
