How My Faith Has Changed Since The Organic God

Over the last year, my friends at Zondervan have been hard at work taking the hardback version of The Organic God and bringing it to paperback. Since the book’s release in 2007, more than 50,000 people have been through The Organic God book and 6-session DVD Bible Study.

The new paperback version makes my husband, Leif, who carries the majority of books around the country to events, very happy.

But it also made me happy, because the re-release gave me the opportunity to take a good, hard look at the book and reflect on how I’ve changed since The Organic God over the last six years. Here are some areas of change: Continue Reading…

The Secret To Overcoming Your Greatest Fear

Zondervan just released The Organic God in paperback and eBook. Reworking the manuscript gave me an opportunity to reflect on God’s faithfulness and goodness. I thought you might enjoy the following adaptation from the book:

Several years ago, I remember reaching a financial breaking point. Though I was owed a lot by clients, they had fallen behind on their accounts and now I was falling behind on mine. Though I cut back on every expense I could think of, I still didn’t have enough money to pay my bills including the electric bill. Worse, I needed to make a tax payment to the government that couldn’t be delayed.

As the deadline for the taxes approached, I felt the fear and anxiety grip my soul. I began to pray, asking God to provide. For more than 60 days, I walked to the mailbox hoping and praying that a check from a client, any client, would arrive. For more than 60 days, I went home empty-handed. Two days before the deadline, I just couldn’t take it any more.

What’s Your Greatest Heart Desire? Learning to Love God Above All Else

All too often I find myself tempted to live a distracted life. You know the kind- the one where within the busyness of life you still manage to perform the stand-up, sit-down, clap, clap, clap of regular church attendance, hope for a new nugget of knowledge or insight from the weekly sermon and check off a random, albeit short, list of acts of kindness.

That’s when the hunger appears in my belly and overtakes my soul, grumbling that there must be more. More of God not only to understand but discover.

Deep down inside, I still hunger for a true, pure relationship with the Organic God – the One True God. [Tweet this]

While organic is usually associated with food grown without chemical-based fertilizers or pesticides, organic is also used to describe a lifestyle: simple, healthful, and close to nature. Those are all things I desire in my relationship with God. I hunger for simplicity. Continue Reading…

After six years as a hardback book and 11 printings, Zondervan is releasing The Organic God in paperback and on Nook, Kindle, and ebook formats. [Tweet this] (Note: It’s already available as an audiobook and Bible study.)

Not only did The Organic God receive a starred-review by Publisher’s Weekly, but the book attracted wide-spread national media attention including mentions in the Washington Post and Dallas Morning News.

The Organic God book and Bible study takes a look at the attributes of God that we don’t talk about as much—God’s bigheartedness, stubbornness, beauty and mystery. “The work of God’s hand is heralded throughout creation and manifested in its many creatures. God’s presence is evident in the groan of labor pains, the sweet scent of a newborn. God’s handiwork is displayed in the cresting of shadows and the damp chill of morning dew. The power of God can be heard in the crackle of hail, the crash of an ocean wave, the groan of gusting wind.
