What if you spent the 40 days leading up to Easter walking alongside Jesus, listening to His life-changing teachings, visiting churches with Paul, and falling more in love with God with each turning page?
Now reading the entire New Testament in 40 days isn’t easy. It demands intentionality. It requires us to reach for the Bible instead of Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, or that latest episode of Duck Dynasty (wait, don’t miss my favorite show!).
If you’ve read Wonderstruck or been following this blog, then you know that I’ve fallen head over heels for Lent. Over the last few years, I’ve come to believe that the 40 days leading up to Easter can be some of the most life-giving, perspective-changing, hope-filled days of the entire year—not just for me, but for you.
My most favorite season of the year is coming up. This is a time we set apart to pursue God with wholehearted abandon. In past years for Lent, I’ve done some pretty unusual things. One year, I gave up prayer. Another, I said goodbye to contempt. Last year, some crazy-pants friends and I made a fast and furious journey through the entire Bible.
