Since the launch of the Scouting the Divine summer Bible study, I’ve been playing in our yard—tugging at stubborn weeds, pruning wild shrubs, plucking the never-ending dandelions.
I find the Holy Spirit nudging me toward Scripture, uncovering deep-rooted truths, with each pinch and snip. I’m rediscovered what many a farmer and gardener know to be true:
Sometimes our hands must become dirty for our souls to become clean.
Clips and cuts have transformed the shape of many of our plants into something that only those of you who have read Fight Back With Joy may fully appreciate.
“Joy emanates out of the abiding sense of God’s fierce love for us.”
–Fight Back With Joy book and Bible study
Perhaps the neighbors will notice. Perhaps they never will. These are my summer love notes to those who pass by.
Imperfect.
Misshaped.
These living reminders of deeper spiritual realities.
I don’t know what God has done in your heart, your family, your life over the last six sessions of the Scouting the Divine Bible study but my hope and prayer is that you will recognize the character of God exhibited throughout His tender creation.
That you will glimpse the God who created the heavens.
That you will join the earth in holy rejoicing.
That you will hear the trees clapping their hands.
That you will join the mountains as they burst forth in song.
That you will recognize the sun running its course with joy.
That you will become like that great tree planted by the spring that brings forth its tangy fruit in season.
That you will sing to the Lord a new song and praise Him from the ends of the earth.
May we be a people who scout the divine each day, a people who lived wide-eyed for God, and search the Scripture to know more of Jesus. Amen.
We want to encourage you to gather your own group of two or more people and scout the Divine together through Scouting the Divine this fall. Consider leading your Bible study, small group, Sunday school class, book club, or gathering a group of co-workers or neighbors to join you. Don’t think you have what it takes to be a leader? Maybe this is the exact step God is asking you to take during this season.
We’re offering a 10% discount on any Scouting the Divine product purchased between now and August 15th (including the Book & Workbook Combinations).

I haven’t been a part of the Bible study, but I’ve definitely felt the same stirrings. I wrote about it this week actually, hearing the symphony all around us and not rushing by. Beautiful thoughts here. Thank you, Margaret!
