Every year, we look forward to receiving the funniest Christmas card of the year from our friends, the Runyons. Dave, his wife Lauren, and their four kids never disappoint. They embody the idea of being more funny than wrong, though they do get close some years to being more wrong than funny and we love them for it. Just when we begin to think, "There's no way they can top that one!", they do it again the following year.
One year they created a photo card depicting A-Not-So-Silent-Night. Another year they offered wise man advice like, "don't eat yellow snow." Last year, we chuckled at their version of TLC's Sister Wives as they dressed like those in the television show.
One of my personal favorites was the year they found out Lauren was pregnant with their fourth kiddo. They reenacted a doctor’s visit in the photo with each of the kids pretending to be doctors, surgeons, and nurses, and the card said: “On the 12th day of Christmas, my true love gave to me, a vasectomy.” Dave's face in the photo said it all.
By the way, Dave Runyon is the co-author of The Art of Neighboring: Building Genuine Relationships Right Outside Your Door. And for this year's Christmas card. Drum roll please:
What was the best Christmas card you received this year?
