Summer reading season is upon us. Some gifts have nestled on my desk that I want to share with you.
The first is from my friend and pastor, Michael Hildago. The lead pastor and a gifted communicator at Denver Community Church, he is translating faith to a new generation of spiritual seekers in creative yet authentic ways.
I’m a huge fan.
Hildago’s newest book, Changing Faith: Questions, Doubts, & Choices About an Unchanged God, (IVP) give flesh to the hidden desires and aches of our souls. He ushers a rich call to maturity in following Jesus while recognizing that pat answers aren’t working any more for those who want to deepen their faith.

Congratulations to the winner: Natalie
My sweet friend, Tammie Head, also has a new book—More: From Messes to Miracles (B&H) which calls us to passionate surrender to Jesus no matter what life may bring. Tammie walks among the fellowship of the afflicted and clings to Jesus extra tight. You’ll be blessed by her honesty and insight.
To win a copy of More, share why you want to read this book in the comment section below.
Congratulations to the winner: Teresa
And for all my momma friends, Jessica Turner offers up practical tactics on how to live under all the demands in The Fringe Hours: Making Time For You (Revell). Jessica helps us identify the hidden pockets of time in our day and maximize them for slowing down and practicing self care.

Congratulations to the winner: Andrea
I am a mom who is a mess, always striving to get closer to God. Would love to read any of these books!
I am a Mom of young children, life is constant interruption! Being able to read snippets of books like this helps me tremendously(even if it takes me all summer!)
I would like to read Tammie’s new book, “More: from Messes to Miracles” because my life is a “MESS” right now and just maybe journeying with Tammie through her own experiences outlined in this book, will provide that extra bit of encouragement that I need to help guide me to the “Miraculous”.
I would love to read any or all of them as every season brings a variant of my need for Jesus! As a mommy I would love to read the fringe hours, and my soul cries out for the book More and yet changing faith could also be a game changer for me. Thank you for your generosity.
I struggle with trying to keep up with a demanding job, my responsibilities with teaching, leading and mentoring at church, meeting the needs of my children and grandchildren, and making time for needs at home. I have many invites for coffee but no white space on my calendar to accept the invitation. I love everything I do but find myself looking for the magic Calgon bottle. I would love to have some tip about making Fringe Hours and finding more balance in my life.
I would love to read “The Fringe Hours” to discover how to win back time in my day.
I would love to read “The Fringe Hours” because I struggle to make good choices when it comes to scheduling my life, and want to redeem those fringe hours in my life as my job and schedule changes drastically in the fall. This book has been on my ‘must read’ list for a couple of months now, and I’d love to have a copy!
I have been struggling with many changes in my life lately. My husband of 30 years left me for another woman in 2011. I had to live with each of my children until I was finally able to get into income based housing. I went from a very nice 3 bedroom home to this. I have been blessed but have been hanging on to my faith by my finger nails.I don’t know which book is best but I need help.
I would like to read “Changing Faith” because it is crucial to acknowledge that we as Christians do struggling sometimes with things that maybe we feel as Christians “we shouldn’t.” We have to stop putting on our Sunday Smile when we come into church and act like there is nothing wrong going on in our lives or that we are struggling with anything at the moment. We are going to struggle because in our weakness we are able to see our great need for Christ. When we stop hiding and begin to bring these things out in the open and become vulnerable before others and God, that is when we can see growth and change!
Ive been wanting to read Fringe hours, and would love to give a copy to a friend adjusting to motherhood.
I would love any copy of the listed titles…but I would especially appreciate More: from messes to miracles. I have experienced a lot of trauma over the past few years and it is difficult to find encouragement buddies or inspiration when life is hard. Most people cannot identify with what has happened to me, and while sympathetic….really cannot truly offer hope and encouragement. I would love to read another book (JOY was amazing) where someone has truly struggled and how to experience God’s peace regardless. Thank you for your consideration and blessings to you all.
As a wife, mom and teacher (homeschool), I too must rely on Jesus. My life is a mess somedays yet I know Jesus is there for me. Knowing I am not alone as I travel this road, we call life is encouraging.
I would love to read More: From Messes to Miracles because I’m in a hard season of life right now, dealing with health issues and family issues that I never expected. It sounds like it would be an encouraging read right now. Thanks for the chance!
I’d love to receive a copy of More: From Messes to Miracles, because messes come in many forms and we all are and will be walking through them. I’m no different and would appreciate having Tammie’s encouragement. Thanks Margaret!
I have a son in his mid-20s who is rejecting the Gospel. I’m wondering if “Changing Faith” would help reach him and bring him back to the truth he knows. And I am trying so hard to cling to Jesus in this season of uncertainty for me. Perhaps “More” would give me some insight into ways I could be doing that better.
More and Fringe Hours would do me well.
I am overwhelmed, underpaid, frustrated, and need a fresh touch from Jesus.
My husband and I are on a journey with his ALS diagnosis.
I’m working all the time, and feel like the clutter of my mind and soul is taking over, not just in my home but my heart.
I need more of Jesus in the moments of my life.
I’m also a 13 year breast cancer survivor. And cheers to you Margaret on your cancer journey.
My wife would love to read any of these books, but especially The Fringe Hours. She’s a talented author and loving mom and spouse.
Because I am a hot mess just trying to turn it all in to a message!
All of these books look great, but, I think I would really enjoy MORE because I would like to read more about messes than have turned in to miracles. I know that parts of my life have been touched by miracles. 🙂 I would like to know more about turning my messes over to God. I have a habit of giving things to God and then, taking them back.
I’ve been wanting to read The Fringe Hours since it first came out. I think all Moms feel pulled in so many directions & feel so overwhelmed. My children are 20 & 23. One is doing pre reqs for Grad School & the other is preparing for taking his State License in Landscaping. We have two businesses & are very active in our church My husband & I help see after our one remaining parent (each). I need to learn to seize The Fringe Hour!
I would love to read Changing Faith. I work with the teens and there’s at our church and this book sounds like it would be really helpful in helping to address the questions and doubts that they are voicing
I would love any of these but the one that I need the most in my life is fringe hours. Thanks for giving away great books!
Wife, mother of three and teacher …always trying to balance my schedule and give God all the time He deserves while keeping myself a float. I also help mentor young women about how and why to love God all while trying to grow closer to Him. Life has had many personal battles in the last few years and I’m just trying to do my best and rest in God’s will.
I struggle with refueling and regenerating time! I’m constantly on the go and feel like I’m regretting lost moments. I need all the wisdom I can get in this area!
Would love to read “More” – just the idea that messes can be changed to miracles gives me hope. Thank you for the chance to win a copy.
My husband has just been diagnosed with advanced stage 4 prostate cancer. We are grounded in the faith and are trusting God in this. No matter the outcome, God is good, all. the time. We are always looking for uplifting Christ-centered books to read and then share with others, going through similar trials. Thanks for giving us this opportunity. God bless.
I would love to win Fringe for my daughter-in-love. She is such a blessing and is a precious wife to our son and a wonderful mother to our granddaughter, Evangeline, age 3 1/2 and our grandson, Wyatt, soon to turn 2! I would cherish an opportunity to encourage her toward self care in this very hectic season of life!
I’d love to read any of them but Changing Faith looks particularly interesting. I love books that challenge my thinking and push me to go deeper.
I would love to read More. I need to learn to make my messy miraculous!
I love reading anything that can cause my relationship with God to grow,
I want to read More from messes to miracles because life is messy. I couldn’t do it with out Jesus. This book seems like a great read!
Would love to read The Fringe Hours. Time management is always one of my struggles.
The Changing Faith book description speaks to me. As an older woman, I am seeking the direction God has for this part of my life and I am interested to see what the author has to say concerning the difficult questions.
Changing Faith appeals to me because I love challenging, thought provoking questions and I am weary of cliche answers that try to suffocate my soul.
I looked again at the description for “More” and realized that what I said concerning “Changing Faith” could apply here, perhaps even more! I want to read them both. “More” might apply more personally: I am devoting this summer mainly to dejunking my house and my schedule to leave room for God’s plans for me.
I would like to read changing faith…I need it…something has to change (and I know it’s me)
The book, “Changing Faith” by Michael Hidalgo seems to have the key to answering many of my questions about maturing in faith and believing God’s promises. I have prayed for many years for my husband to accept the Lord. I feel if I had a stronger maturity and faith, I could answer many questions that my husband has about believing. I know this time of waiting can deepen my faith and to that end, this book would be well worth the read.
I would be interesting in ‘the fringe hours’ book. I’m a mom to 4 kids ranging from 19 months to 15 years old, wife to a husband who is slowly losing the function of his legs and a daughter to two loving parents that live 2000 miles away that are always worrying about their family a far. I don’t have much if any time for me. Trying find the time for studying God’s word, my devotionals, and your books is getting increasingly hard. If there are any tips in that book I would grateful to learn them.
Much love and many blessings!
I would love to read any of these books! I love to read these types of books to encourage and challenge me in my daily walk.
I would love to get a copy of The Fringe Hours for my niece, who recently had her first child. It could be such a blessing for this new mama.
My life is a mess and full of stress. I feel I need the miracle of God that he can bring.
I want to win More because I’m going through a tough struggle in relationship breakup and I’m trusting that Christ has more for me, because He always does, but it seems tough right now.
MORE! Oh my hearts cry is for more of Jesus. So I would love to win the book “More: From Messes to Miracles” by Tammie Head Sometimes I feel like a huge mess and I know more of Jesus is what I need.
I would love to read Changing Faith by Michael Hidalgo. I am struggling to figure out what to do with my life so that I can help those who are vulnerable. I was born with muscles that are weaker than normal but my faith has always been an important part of my life.
Oh my all 3 oc these books are great and ones i havent read yet.. I would love to read all 3.
As our Pacific NW Region’s Women’s Ministries President I’m always looking for resources to pass onto our women. Any of these books look like they’d really meet a need amongst our women. After reading, I could post a recommendation on our Regional and National FB pages to get the word out.
I would love Changed Faith because the preview sounds like my heart! We are church planters near a military post and I am the mother of college and highschool children. I want to learn what Mr. Hidalgo feels is relevant to sharing Christ in tangible ways to this seeking generation! Thank you for considering me!
Every time you have a book giveaway, I scroll through the responses and end up seeing that there are more pressing needs than mine! However, in the event that the Holy Spirit wants you to choose me . . . I have a brilliant 16 year old son who has struggled with making a commitment to Jesus. He knows the Bible well and has many questions that stump and challenge me, even though I have been in Bible study faithfully for the last 25 years. It sounds like “Changing Faith” would equip me and perhaps be a resource for him and/or my two other teens, who are wholly committed to Christ.
I would love to win the “More” book for my 24 year old daughter who is living apart from God…running, running, running! Yet God continues to pursue her. What an awesome God! i would love for her to read this book. Maybe she will hear God speaking to her through this book. Thank you for the offer to win.
I would like to read Changing Faith. I am a bi-vocational pastor of a small rural church in Indiana. We don’t have a huge budget for resources. This sounds like a read I could share with our Elders as we seek to be a Church that makes a difference in our area. Thank you!
I would love to read Tammie Head’s new book, “More”! I led a Bible study on her first book, “Duty or Delight” and we all loved it! It changed a core belief in my life by her teaching on Ephesians 1:4 “For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight.” (I memorized that one!)
A long time ago, I was excited to learn that she had started writing another book, and now it is out, and yes I want to read it! I have a few people I would like to give a copy, but first I want to read it, to see who would benefit most — maybe some of the ladies in our church’s ministry to women in the sex industry (mainly strippers), or to other young women I know that need more God in their life, a young mother addicted to drugs, or a busy mom who has put God on the back burner. Thanks, Margaret for doing this drawing.
I would love to win a copy of Changing Faith because I so desperately want to be effective in my community for Jesus Christ.
More More, would be a delight to read because I love to read more and more every waking hour. Yet, it would be inspiring to read this inspired book that I may receive more from the Lord.
I am so hungry for Christ so any of these should be great to read. We go out singing the Gospel to the elderly and pray that what we sing and what we seem just shows Christ in us.
I have fibromyalgia and it is only God that gets me through most of these times. So no matter how I am feeling at the time we still go.
As said I am hungry – hungry – hungry for more of God and His sweet healing Spirit. I love Him to bits and any reading matter I can get into to make it even closer would be a real bonus.
Thank you for this opportunity and God bless your ministry.
I would love to read either Changing Faith, or More. I think either of them would help me grow more in my faith and my ministry.
I would like to win More because sometimes I am a mess and I need a miracle.
Changing faith -a call to maturity. I need this. Thank you for offering gifts to your community.
I’d love to win More: From Messes to Miracles! The reason being is my family is living a surrendered life and I’d like further insight from someone else who’s also doing the same. 🙂 Thank you, Rebecca

Being a mom of 5, I would love anyone of these books. I need some good reading material to keep sane lol. Thank you for considering me. I know the books would be a blessing to whoever wins them. Thank you for offering them too.
I would love to read the book More: Messes to Miracles. I am a breast cancer survivor and I truly understand this first hand. I have said about my journey that it is not one I would have chosen but one I would not change AT ALL. God truly turned my mess into a miracle. To God be the glory!!
I would like to read changing faith because I am a 20s something in the church, trying to find a mature faith!
The Fringe Hours sounds like it might be helpful for me. I find myself, as a caregiver for parents with Alzheimer’s, juggling lots of things. Care and time for me is always at the bottom of the list. Presently I am experiencing some physical issues that stem from not taking time or finding the time to do things that nourish my soul. I am trying to discover how to do this so I can continue to be a strong caregiver.
I would love to read More because we are going through the journey of unemployment and it has been a season of loss in other areas of life as well. I would love to read Changing Faith because I love reading books that bring me closer to God. I’ve already read The Fringe Hours from the library and it’s a great book and motivator to take time for your passions! Thank you!
I would like to read “Changing Faith” or “More.” I’ve been on a grief journey for the past two years since the death of my son. I shunned God after his death, then got back to church a year and half later. Now I am in limbo. I have so many doubts and questions. I don’t know what to believe. I want to believe. I want a strong faith. Is going through the motions good enough? I want to feel it in my heart and practice it, live by it daily.
I’d love to read More! 🙂
The book that I would like to read is Fringe. I’ve seen it on websites, but haven’t bought it yet. I work full time, work part-time doing the billing for my Husband’s business, take care of my Mom and have three of our four kids living at home. Even though the youngest is 19, there’s still a lot of activity!
Tammie Head is a wonderful, godly young woman! For those of you interested in her book, you’ve got to read it! I saw her in February at the California Women’s Retreat – can’t wait ’til Feb 2016, Margaret! – Tammie’s testimony is powerful, but her poise and maturity are inspirational. We know Who is her source.
I would like to read all of these books but, the one on how to fine time for myself is something I could use. thank you for offering these contest
Margaret I would love to read any of these books but Fringe Hours seems to be what I am needing in the moment…struggling with time for and with God and just about my own physical being. I also have a daughter who would so benefit along with myself from MORE from Messes to Miracles. Thank you for offering hope and joy as we journey through this life to life with our loving God!
“More” sounds right on target for what I’m experiencing. I try to manage chronic pain from a car accident induced neck and back injury 26 years ago which triggered fibromyalgia pain and fatigue. Now added to that I had a bi-lateral mastectomy and failed reconstruction which has caused chronic chest muscle pain. I know that God loves me and I cling to him daily, but I struggle with depression and feelings of lacking purpose due to my very limited abilities to accomplish things. I have learned to not ask “why God?” too much. I’m searching for more meaning in my life in the midst of pain.
I would love Changing Faith to both deepen my faith and to share my faith.
Thank you for the offer. <3
I would love any of the three books. I could probably use Fringe Time the most! I am a mom to 5 and just graduated nursing school.
I’ll be Honest I am a stay at home mom who finds myself always wishing there was more time in the day. I find myself forgetting about self care all together . I desperately need and would treasure the opportunity to read The Fringe Hours!
I hope I am not too late! I would be thrilled to be awarded a copy of The Fringe Hours. I am a newlywed and work two jobs while my husband finishes his MDiv. It feels like I don’t have any time whatsoever, and I can feel burnout creeping in. I would love to get a fresh perspective and be able to see the “unseen time” all around me. Thank you!
I want to win a copy of the first book to give to my dad. Walking him through this season has been very hard and I know he needs encouragement and tools to lead him back to the Father.
I would like the other two books for myself. I have literally been juggling and dropping every ball lately. I haven’t been saying no enough or making time for me. Money and time are two commodities I do not have enough of and I am struggling to keep it all together.
We are frail human beings. We make mistakes in life because we are not perfect only Jesus Christ. As we walk through this journey called life we need more of Jesus . We cannot make it on our own.We need His touch, His Love, His strength as we go through the day. We are lost without Jesus Christ. We may seek advice from others but deep down inside are still lost, empty . We are in need of someone to help us to go through and triumph through this mess so that through everything as we cling unto Jesus unchanging hand he can turn our mess into a miracle. We must remember that Jesus is a miracle worker. We have to hold unto Him with all the faith that we have and to wait on Him to bring us through this struggle with a testimony to say that the only way that I made it was through Jesus Christ . He turned my messy life into a testimony and now I can say is that a miracle came because I believed in Him and His Word no matter what things in life looked liked. This book is truly for me. Thanks!
I would love to read any of the books, however More from Messes to Miracles fits this season of my life. I’ve been fighting chronic pain (fibromyalgia), depression & many additional diagnosis for years now. My relationship with the Lord has grown & become my #1priority. I feel that there is something missing & truly want to better my relationship with the Lord & to gain insight on what I’m going through now. Thank you for the opportunity to win one of these wonderful books!
At the beginning of this year , I did the ‘one word challenge ‘- my word was ‘free’
For the past months I have been reflecting on this biblical truth on ‘ free’
I want to grasp what is the full meaning of ‘to live free’
Flourish would be another wonderful gift as I believe I can explore on different aspects of to ‘live free’
in Christ.
Shalom
Carol
