Lent 2014 : 5 Ways to Revolutionize Your Walk With Christ

What if you spent the 40 days leading up to Easter walking alongside Jesus, listening to His life-changing teachings, visiting churches with Paul, and falling more in love with God with each turning page?

You’re invited to read through the entire New Testament in 40 days—with a Sabbath rest each week.

Now reading the entire New Testament in 40 days isn’t easy. It demands intentionality. It requires us to reach for the Bible instead of Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, or that latest episode of Duck Dynasty (wait, don’t miss my favorite show!).

Here are 5 ways to read the New Testament during Lent:

1. Print the Lent Challenge: 40 Day New Testament Reading Guide

As we dive into the New Testament for Lent, we’ve put together a PDF reading guide for you to print and put inside of your Bible. After each day’s reading, check the box next to those passages. I want to see photos of your progress. Upload to Instagram or Twitter with hashtag: #LentChallenge. Let’s celebrate God’s Word together.

2. Pick your favorite translation.

Download the YouVersion Bible Application for free. Our friends at YouVersion bring the Bible to your fingertips. Choose to read through your favorite Bible translation or an unfamiliar version easily on YouVersion. I’ve found that reading an unfamiliar translation brings verses to life and brings passages to the surface I hadn’t noticed before. (Psst… we have a special announcement coming soon regarding YouVersion. Stay tuned!)

3. Listen to the Audio Bible during your daily commute.

Each day, we’ll be spending about 30 minutes reading. What if you used your time in the car or on the treadmill to listen to the audio Bible instead? There are several options on how to download or stream the audio Bible on your phones or computers for free.

4. Have a Partner.

Grab a friend. Invite a co-worker. Ask your daughter or son. Call grandma or grandpa. Ask someone to join you in this adventure and hold each other accountable. When you sit down to read the passages for the day, send a text or email to remind your partner.

5. Subscribe to these blogs.

We’ve teamed up with a bunch of friends around the web from all different backgrounds to read the New Testament during Lent! When you subscribe to their blog, you’ll receive their insights in your inbox and have the chance to discuss, comment, and join in our community.
