Through the 40-Day Bible Reading challenge, we’re now in the Gospels. Whahoo!
The words of Christ are coming alive in a fresh way as I dive into Eugene Peterson’s writing of Scripture through The Message Bible. Here are a few powerful and potent reminders from Matthew and Mark.
Here are 6 breathtaking quotables from Jesus. [Tweet this] All are within an easy click to Tweet to your friends and Pin-able for all your fellow Pinterest-lovers!

“Here’s a simple, rule-of-thumb guide for behavior: Ask yourself what you want people to do for you, then grab the initiative and do it for them. Add up God’s Law and Prophets and this is what you get.” –Jesus, Matthew 7:12 #LIVEWONDERSTRUCK [Tweet this]
“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” –Jesus, Matthew 11:28-30, #LIVEWONDERSTRUCK [Tweet this]“Anyone who intends to come with me has to let me lead. What is YOUR FAVORITE Jesus quote?
Margaret,
I love these!! Thanks so much for the reminders – especially during Holy week. Praying for God to reveal Himself to you in new and exciting ways this week. Thank you for lifting our eyes to the cross and the empty tomb this season.
Donna
Donna, so thrilled you enjoy them! Praying that God reveals and makes Himself known to you this week!
Ya my god has blessed me soomuch
Like the first image you have posted here, less of you and more of God, there are many other paradoxes like this in the scriptures.
There is strength in weakness
2 Cor. 12:10 …..For when I am weak, then I am strong.
Those that give actually recieve.
Acts 20 :35…..‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”
Serventhood to God actually leads to freedom
Romans 6:22 But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the fruit you get leads to sanctification and its end, eternal life.
My son’s name is Rohan Crosby. Rohan means “Ascending” and Crosby means “at the cross.”…This obviously comes from what I believe is the greatest paradox in scripture. In order for us to ascend, to be in a relationship with God, we must draw near to the cross. I hope that he truly does see this as he gets older, I pray that we all are changed by the thouoght you ahve shared today…”Less of me, God, and more of you!”
I know this was more of a post and not a comment but I really liked that first one 🙂 Thanks for sharing!!!
Philip, so glad you enjoyed it! And thank you for the additional references to the “less of you and more of God” passages.
Love, Love, and triple love these. Thanks!!! Hope you don’t mind I stuck one up on my blog. Really made me think!
Rebecca, don’t mind at all! So glad you enjoy them!
What an awesome way to end the day! So beautifully refreshing and inspiring! God bless you! Marlene Hershey@Alpha2468
Marlene, so glad you enjoy them!
Love them all Margaret, but I was particularly struck by Mark 8:34. It is so direct in The Message version and is a great one to reflect upon: am I following or leading?
Love this Tuesday treat of the verses in pictures…
Ian, Mark 8:34 is a great verse and a great reminder! So glad you enjoy the picture verses!
Thanks for sharing! So much to learn here.
Jesus didn’t say any of these.
Hi Steve! We pulled these verses from The Message paraphrase. So while Jesus didn’t use these exact words, we think the fresh language makes passages that you’ve read again and again come to life again. Feel free to look up the passages using your favorite Bible translation.
He didn’t say the versions you prefer, either. He didn’t speak English.
I really love these 🙂 Mark
9:23 , So beautiful of meaning and give me inspiring ^^. Thankyou for sharing..

Im catholic and know most of these passages, and they are wildly misquoted. The one about the drivers seat makes me laugh cause of all the cars in Jesus’s time.

Hey this is palvi from India thanks for sharing beautiful thoughts of Jesus we love you mam
Here’s some canned, repackaged and repurposed Christianity for the busy, brain dead masses. I found this site, 6th down on the Google Search results for my queries ‘Jesus quotes’, so Ms. Feinberg here, is one of the higher up religious disinformation tools being utilized. I read through all 6 of these blasphemous rewrites of scripture and I am deeply offended. Some of them are SO asinine, I am angry. I encourage everyone reading these supposed quotes of Jesus Christ, to pull out your King James Bibles and read and compare the REAL word of God. This woman in my opinion, is just another religious shill tasked with writing more subversive garbage books that leads away from the teachings of Christ. Another trickster with a big megawatt smile and a Hermes scarf patting the heads of destitute children in 3rd world countries and pretending to help. These foundations and nonprofits are all diabolical shell games in nature. Look at the bottom line 990 tax returns for every single one of them and discover the truth. The elite satanic establishment utilizes people like feinberg to sell lots of bumpersticker wisdom books thru their crony publishing houses. She may or may not realize she’s a tool. The people who discovered her, groomed her into place, created her ‘opportunities’, will -in the end -bust her bones out and destroy her for her compliance. Do you think the the devil has any loyalty for his minions? Lots of ‘merch’ peddling with this woman. Look at her website. Subversion is subtle. In my estimation, this lady doesn’t have a clue about Jesus Christ, or she couldn’t be doing what she’s doing….a plate spinning, money churning distraction. When you compare version, notice all the subtle meanings that are lost it completely distorted in these ridiculous interpretations listed above. The devil is a clever trickster, using all kinds of tools. It’s our job to notice and to figure it out. Follow a charlatan and when they go off in the ditch, you go with them too. She’s very cute, though…
And that New York City cosmopolitan smile. Wow. Beware. Think.
I am not associating myself with Victoria (I don’t agree with her), but these are not Jesus quotes. Misleading to pass them off as such.
to me god and Jesus are in the hart and mind and bodie not a book!
